I served with the 3rd RTR in Detmold Germany left army in 1957, I have tried for some time to find anyone who served in "A" Squadron. Today I Logged on and had a message from Peter who is now retired and lives in the USA. It was great to hear for him and brought back lots of happy memories of my time in Detmold

Lyn and I met at Yeovil when we began a shorthand typing course in '65 (she was brill and I was absolutely rubbish but passed somehow). We became good friends but completely lost touch when we were posted. Although neither of us knew it we were both posted to Germany, Lyn in Bielefeld and me in Rheindahlen. Sunday 15th June '08 I received an e-mail from Lyn who had seen my profile on forces reunited and somehow recognised me. I replied to her e-mail and today 18th June we talked on the phone after 33years. It was as if we'd never lost contact and so amazing I still can't believe it. More unbelievable was that another girl who both Lyn and I were with at Yeovil (also called Brenda) also saw my profile and has been in touch this week. How brilliant is that!!! Thanks Forces Reunited you have made three old Wrac mates extremely happy.

i joined this site to find a friend of my mum's and also my uncle , It was sooo nice to contact him on my mothers behalf. unfortunately , it was too late for " doug" to meet up again with my uncle as he had passed away just months before. However, idris also knew my grandparents, so it is nice to hear stories about " the good old days".

When you can get in contact with somone you have not seen in 50 years, and they live half a world away, that is a good enough reason for me being a member of Forces Reunited. ( What are you waiting for )

I have been a member of a number of ex-Service sites over the years and had virtually given up the thought of making contact with anyone. This is especially because my group, The Balloon Unit of Cardington, numbered so few bods. Then out of the blue through Forces Reunited, one of the happier faces from my time in the RAF contacted me. We're both 71 now, but for me at least, the last 50 years just disappeared and our shared experiences are fresh again.

Pete and I served together at 39 Heavy Regiment Workshop REME and went to the Gulf the first time around. I left the Army in 1992 and had not seen or heard much of my former buddies since then.
I logged onto Forces Reunited with a certain degree of scepticism about it working.
To my surprise, I have been able to look up my old mates and get in touch with them.
It has given me a feeling of comradeship that was once lost. Thanks to Forces Reunited, I have been able to catch up with old mates.

Through Forces Reunited I was able to locate the names of several RAFP Dog Handler colleagues whom I served with in the RAF between 1962-1971.One such contact was able to give me the name and address of a very good friend of mine (Dick FINDLAY) whom I lost contact with and last spoke to over 40 years ago. He telephoned me today and we hope to meet up in the not too distant future. Thank you Forces Reunited.

In 1941 both Robert Buxton and myself at the ages of five started school at Warstones Road Wolverhampton. At the age of eleven R.B. left for another school but owing to my date of birth I had to stay on another year and never saw or heard from him since then.
At the age of 15 years and eight months in 1952 I joined the Royal Navy as a Boy/seaman at HMS Ganges. Apparently R.B joined the same place
Robert Hanley.in the November of that year. Neither of us knew of the others existance at Ganges and we both served our time and lived our seperate lives until a couple of days ago when R.B must have recently joined Forces re-united and, on looking through the membership came across my name (me having been a member for many years) and contacted me. We have since exchanged messages and hope to keep in touch by boring each other to death with tales of our lives over the past sixty eight years. Naturally we will be exchanging many photographs to go with our Navy days.

I have just spoken to someone I met in Cyprus around 1960. I contacted a complete stranger on forces reunited who said that his father knew my friend. All this happened in 48 hours. We are going to keep in touch now and hope to meet soon. Thanks to those who helped me.

In 1962 I joined the Royal Navy & met a guy called Mick Riles. Having gone through basic training and spent two years aboard our first Ship: HMS ALBION, we lost touch. Some 43 Years later through Forces Reunited, Mick located me. It was quite an emotional reunion. Well done Forces Reunited. Keep up the good work.
