Mick Frear

| Lancashire England |
Mick was killed in an incident whilst on a patrol in the Habilayn area up country in Aden. I had spent many hours on stag with him on a picket outside the wire, I was part of the mortar locating listening post, he was an infantryman with the Irish Guards. He was from Lancashire I from Yorkshire. He was only about 22 when he died and probably the first person that I knew well to die. It shook me up and I still feel a sense of loss when remembrance day comes around. He was funny and witty and very much in love with his girl back home. He only stayed on in Aden a few extra months to save up more money for his wedding. A great shame. Rest in peace Mick. |
