Newly qualified Lawyer and Sergeant, 993204, W.Op/Air Gunner. 35 Squadron, RAF Volunteer Reserve. Son of John and Annie McLaren, Brother of James,Amy,John and Ronald. Killed along with his fellow crew members on a Lancaster bombing raid on German shipping on Norwegian coast. His body, along with others from the Aircraft, was recovered by Norwegian resistance fighters and now lies at rest in Grave reference K.5. Trondheim (Stavne) Cemetery, Norway. The Uncle whose name I carry in rememberance, whom I never met, but have never forgotten. |

In memory of Archibald McCulloch McLaren, Wireless Operator/Air Gunner onboard Halifax R9496 TL-L of 35 Squadron who died on an operation to attack the German ship Tirpitz in Fættenfjord near Trondheim, Norway on the night of March 30/31 1942. Buried in Trondheim (Stavne) Cemetery with two of the other seven members of the crew, Sgt D Francis the Tail Gunner and my grandfather F/Sgt W B Archibald, who was the pilot. They are visited often and they are not forgotten. |
