DENNIS NOT WAYNE GIBBONS GIBBONS

Not so sure who should have represented The Regt on times,Punchy or HIS WIFE.He had a distinct marriage, could be sad to but you wouldnt think so to hear him.Den was ok,some might say he could have been given a hand,a little help, but thats being picky and he wasnt a picky guy.It seems his death was certainly not planned and stems from a petty tiff.He was one of the lads,.He was so proud of the corps,God Help anyone who said anything contrary to the good name of the RCT.Yes he was OK,RIP Den,from all those who remember .

It has certainly done me no favours to hear Punchy Dennis Gibbons is no more.He represented the regiment at boxing and lived for the corps. He had a unique marriage and as a duty driver getting him home was one thing, getting him inside his quarters was another.Fr Shnieder of the NAAFI rang the guardroom only able to say Gibbons, its Gibbons on many an occasion when Dennis was Out And About as he used to put it.If on guard I would take THE ENTIRE GUARD to safely house him in a warm cell for the night.I never heard of him being charged and every time he asked.Taff Tell me I didnt hurt any of the lads did I.No he never did and we would never hurt him though we had to bring him down rugby style.Promoted many times Dennis was a very special Career Man.I remember a certain Jock NCO saying Hes Not Allowed In Here on having just been made up and Dennis poking his head round the Cpls Mess Door.I said.Tell you what, you go tell him !OK he would plead to have a pint, and it always was for he was our mucker as well as a pain in the whatsit some times. That pint and it would be home,a recce of the quarter, get his misses out him in and shoot off.Dennis im told died after falling awkwardly during a tiff amongst hundreds with his long suffering but loving wife. His death was certainly not anything other. He boxed in German Boxing Booths till they paid him off not to hurt their man and he loved it,so did his wife she got half. His life was The Corps His Life Was His Life and he lived it his way.Sleep well my friend Rest in Peace for the rest of time.On behalf of hundreds who had the privilege to have known you and by being so became a better person for it.RIP Mucker.Taff James H Kerby
