Harry Darke, born 1896 in Membury, Devon. Harry Darke died in Pozieres, France on 27/3/1918, age 22. Military: Private 44152 H D Chapple, 2nd Bn Devonshire Regiment. Fell at the village of Pozieres during the final Battle of the Somme. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial. See Harry’s citation in the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Debt of Honour Register.
