Sam Isaacs
|
30 April 1920 To 16 February 1986 |
| London Surrey United Kingdom |
Sam Murray (nee Isaacs) was a member of the Glider Pilot Regiment from 1942 to 1946. He saw action at Sicily, D Day & Arnhem and ended the war in India, where he was presented with the DFM for his contribution at Arnhem. His citation read: "This NCO has taken part in three airborne operations...On each occasion he has shown the most skilful ability as a pilot and has landed his load safely in the correct place. His determination and coolness under difficult conditions has at all times been most conspicuous." His release papers statement said: "An excellent type of NCO with a distinguished operational record. Military Character: Exemplary".
I am currently researching his army career and would like to hear from anyone who may remember him. He was a good man. |
