Corporal Chiles was the son of Edwin and Mary Ann Chiles. He joined the Black Watch as a boy soldier and played the French horn in the band. He served in Palestine at the start of the second world war and was sent to Cretein 1941. He was killed on Tuesday, 20th May by a German parachutist when he was serving as a stretcher bearer. He died aged 25years and is greatly missed |
