Philip Henry Monaghan
|
January 1916 To September 1944 |
| United Kingdom |
In memory of my Grandfather Pte Philip Henry Monaghan RAOC who was enlisted into the regular army through the Territoral Army in 1941, then became attached to the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders on deployment to the Far East and then was captured by the Japanese in Malaya in February 1942 and died as a POW on a Prison Ship torpedoed by the Americans in September 1944. Missed by his children, Philip, Eileen and John who then became orphans shortly afterwards. Although I never knew my grandfather I have a special bond with him, as I am a serving part time soldier. |
