John was my father in law and very good friend, he lived to the good age of 92.He joined the army in 1939 and served with the Royal Engineers till he was demobbed in 1946.He went over to France in the week after D Day moving to Holland later,dealing with railway infrastructure etc. He was a sergeant. His boyhood friend who joined RAF in 1939, was killed in action in Libya in 1942.May they both RIP |
