My Father served through WW2. Trained in Glasgow. Private No. 7044457. stationed in Anglesey, Wales initially. RAOC 1942. REME 1944 repairing trucks to supply front line after D-Day during ’the big push’ as he called it. Was involved in cleaning-up operation at Belson!!! Caught TB. Spent six months in Prestwood sanatorium. Discharged with invalid pension.
My memories are scanty, old soldiers like my father rarely tell what they saw! Can anyone entighten me or expand on these details? |
