Clifford Fairbrother nee Gordon
|
27 November 1940 To 10 May 1966 |
| Rossendale/Blackburn Lancashire England |
I first met Cliff in Cyprus in 1959 just at the end of the Cyprus "emergency". I left Cyprus in1961 after 3 years Cliff still had a few more months to do. Because REME personal are spread so far and wide you do not exspect to meet up again but some 16 months later I was posted to 1st Battalion the Middlesex Regiment LAD in Lydd Kentand we met up again and serving in Gibralter and doing two tours in Tobruck on IS duties with A company. As REME did it in those days we both came up on the roll for our corporal promotions at the same time, he stayed with the regiment I was posted to Germany. He went to N Ireland and once again on IS duties in British Guyana were he was killed, a great friend, a great tradesman and a "bluebell" remembered for ever. ARTE ET MARTE Cliff. |
