This a tribute to my loving brother Trooper Ernest Arther Barnes
554990 Who served with the Seventh Queens Own Hussars with distinction from 1936 to 1945 Most of his service was in Egypt and the Western Desert as a tank gunner.In action against German forces the tank next to his was hit and set on fire Acting
against orders, he went under fire, and saved a wounded man who was trying to get out of this tank For this action he would have normaly been awarded the Military Cross, but was not because he had ignored an order. |
