HAMLETT - Ernest was born in
Manchester, England, and passed away
in British Columbia, Canada on
May 27th, 2002 at 87 years. A World War
II Veteran serving with the 1st Battalion,
British 1st Airborne Division, Border Regiment, in North
Africa, Sicily, Italy and Arnhem, Holland, and a surviving
P.O.W. (Stalag XIB). After the war, he served with the Territorial Army and earned his wings as a paratrooper. He moved to Canada when he was 62 years old, and served 13 years with te Commissionaire Corps in Victoria, British Columbia. Always a soldier and a gentleman to the end, he used his sense of humour
and his kindness to bring joy to others. Ernest is survived by Anne, his wife of 62 years; son,Christopher; daughter, Jean and grandson, Dane. Anyone who remembers Ernest, may contact his daughter at jajames@direct.ca |
