|
12 December 1897 To 29 October 1918 |
| Failsworth, Manchester Lancashire England |
Gunner James Edward Crossley, 115137. 168th Siege Battery Royal Garrison Artillery. died aged 20 years. buried Block 5, Plot 2. Row K. Grave 8 in St Sever Cenetary Extension. Rouen. France. Eldest son of Elijah and Alice. My father was the youngest son, and my dad would always talk about his oldest brother. I never knew him, but I miss him. He gave his life for freedom, and his death affected his family throughout their lifetimes. I had the privilege of visiting his grave in France, only the second family member to do so in 80 years. To see all the headstones in the cemetary really brings home what war is all about. God bless everyone who died in all the wars that have been fought. In remembrance of my beloved Uncle. RIP. your neice Mary Crossley |
