CPL GEORGE ANSELL -2/2 BTN ROYAL LONDON FUSILERS WAS KILLED IN ACTION BY A GERMAN SNIPER ON THE 21 3 1918 ,AFTER HE MACHINE GUNNED MANY ADVANCING ENEMY ,AT TRAVESY FRANCE, THIS REPORT WAS RECORDED BY HIS C/O CAPT HARPER, WHO RUN OUT OF AMMO AND HAD TO SURRENDER AS THEY WERE OVERRUN BY 50 TO I.
HE ORIGINALY WENT TO FRANCE IN 1915 WITH THE LONDON TA 19TH REG ROYAL FUSILIERS. |

He was one of the reasons why I and many many others are here and alive and free today. My wife's name was Ansell and so I give thanks to that name for more than just winning the war !! |

Thank you David for your kind comments sadly I never met him, but as a child of 5yrs. I remember a large photo of him in his uniform, hanging on the kitchen wall at my Grandads. |

TODAY I HAVE A GREAT GRANDSON BORN , 8TH MARCH 2011 WHO WILL BE NAMED GEORGE, LIKE HIS LIKE HIS GREAT-GREAT UNCLE,WHO WAS KIA ON THE 21-3- 1918.WE HOPE HE WILL HAVE A LONG HAPPY LIFE. |
