My father died in service at age 32 whilst on shore leave in Rosyth. He left a 28 year old widow with 4 children. Whilst trying to research his side of the family I came across this website. I was trying to find other sites on which I could find details of the ships he served on from his log. He died whilst in Rosyth and was serving at that time on HMS Cochrane. He also served from 1947 onwards on HMS Impregnable, Vanguard Drake, Gambia, Newcastle, Devonshire Sparrow, Dryad, Sanderling, Eagle Belfast, Victory. At his death he was a Chief Petty Officer. I was only 6 when he died suddenly at home and I feel I know nothing about his past. I do not know where his ashes were scattered and have only gotten photos of his navy days right from the time he was a cadet. I just want to say Dad that we all turned out OK and mum still has a large black hole that no-one ever filled. God bless |
