served on ship warspite for many years,becoming chief gunnery officer/instructor.this ship sunk an italian warship at a range of
16 miles (at that time a record),(first salvo)? he served earlier on ship pegasus, was torpedoed twice,completely unscathed,but lost a finger in peacetime due a steel hawser.later i was told by my father that he held the deep sea diving record using the suit with screw on helmet.his hobby was woodcarving which he carried on after leaving the navy as a business. |
