Dedicated to Arthur Derek Maher (A)Sub-Lieutenant FAA. Missing in action on 24th January 1942 whilst on patrol in his Swordfish(828 Squadron) from HMS Grebe(land based station)in North Africa at the age of 20.Arthur was the younger brother of Patrick who also served in the FAA and survived(My wifes step-father).Arthur was posthumously awarded the DSC.His name is on the FAA memorial at Lee-on-Solent for those airmen who have no known grave.He was one of so many very brave aircrew who gave their lives for their country. |
