Welcome to this September 2007 Newsletter from Forces Reunited, the largest UK Forces Veterans Community on the web, with over 345,000 members!

As usual we have been working very hard on your behalf and have lot's of new features and interesting things to tell you about! Read on.......

Update Your Email!

Forces Reunited has recently launched a new website for the benefit of our members called "UpdateYourEmail.com"

The new site gives you the facility to contact old friends where you have lost their current email address.

As long as you've got an old email address of theirs and they have registered, you simply enter the old email address into the search form and the site allows you to send an email to their up to date email address. Once they've received this email, they can then reply (if they so wish!).

We have made it extremely simple by pre-adding your details, so all you need to do is log-in and then search!

If you do not wish to use the service, and wish to have your details removed, simply log-in, select 'Edit your Profile' and then click on 'Delete Profile'.

Not only does this site allow you to contact old friends where the email address that you have for them is now out of date, but it also allows you to keep your other community website profiles up to date automatically*!

What are you waiting for? Take a look now here and don't forget to recommend the site to a few friends, as the more friends who join the more useful it is for everyone!

*Where registered.

Regards,
The Forces Reunited Team.

Forces Reunited Petition

A couple of our members have started a petition to help Falklands Veterans return to pay their respects.

According to Rab Carrigan, there are in the region of 8000 veterans that for one reason or another need to return to the Falkland Islands, to put old ghosts to rest and/or visit places that they served to protect.

At present there are two option available for veterans to travel, through the RAF or by civilian flights. The RAF takes in a one stop flight and this is 20hrs, at a cost of £1169 + £20 airport tax. The civilian route is to Spain then Chile then Falklands, taking up to 3 days at a cost of £980.

These flights could be given to veterans at a vastly reduced price. This would give financial relief to veterans and the organisations that support them. At present veterans wanting to afford these flights need to go through a vetting system and be means tested to get support from The Royal British legion, SSAFA and other Associations. This, however, puts a massive strain on the limited resources, especially when these flights go to the Falkland Islands half empty on a regular basis to support the military garrison on the Islands.

It is time that the Government and MOD stepped up and started supporting British Forces Veterans in their rehabilitation. Not to put red tape and bureaucratic obstacles in their way.

There is a petition on the government website at http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Falklandflights/

Please sign it if you feel you can.
