(The aim of a life in South Africa did not pan out) Qualified as a Psychiatric Nurse and worked in this profession for 7yrs. Joined Social Services after this and was in a management position,of upto 40 staff providing care in the community mainly to vulnernable adults. Was with Social services for almost 25yrs. I took early retirement a couple of years ago. Got myself a part time job working with the preparation and sail of GRP cruisers for use on the inland waterways. Had several houses and apartments.But never lost the bug for boats and the water,actually live aboard my own 52ft narrow boat. It is now the fifth boat i have owned and health and finances willing,may change to another boat and cruise the Canal-du-Midi or some other adventure! |

On the 16th june this yr i met up with my long lost marine oppo mike ( tug ) wilson after 44 yrs.we were last to-gether in brunei serving with 40 commando royal marines in 1962.we were invited with our wives to the commando training centre rm at lympstone.devon by the co.we wore our green berets and medals and we were treated as veterans should be with much respect.we had a great day and felt proud to be there.we have a photograph of us to-gether if needed.theres a famous saying "that you can take a man out of the royal marines,but you can't take the marines out of a man!!
