| Charles Taylor's details |
I last saw ken in 1954 when we were both stationed at raf middle wallop. after my demob i lost contact with all my ex-mates, and although i scanned all the tv 'lost friends' programmes, there were never any from the lads i had served with. taffy (ken) was a workmate in the stores at middle wallop, and he was promoted to corporal whilst i remained a lowly lac! nevertheless, we remained friends for nearly two years. i now live in suffolk, whilst taff returned to his native wales. recently i decided to get onto the 'net', and discovered the forces reunited website. browsing it, i found the friends search section, and lo and behold, there was a message from taffy! i sent an e-mail via the site, and then received a reply from him. i was so pleased to hear from him again, and i am indebted to forces reunited for it. he reminded me in his reply of the many names i had almost forgotten over the period of nearly 50 years, and we both hope to contact more of our old 'muckers' through your service.
as one gets older, it somehow becomes more important to regain contact with the people you knew years ago, and it gave me a specially heart-warming feeling to actually find one such person. thank you once again for providing such a wonderful service for us oldies! Ron Weir
