| Paul Elliott's details |
Thanks again, forces reunited, for putting me in touch with a "lost" pal who'd been a boy soldier with me in boys company rasc at aldershot. only in december 2004 ex-boy brian "taffy" davis and i got together after our last meeting, which was in baor in 1958.
now, after fifty years, allan
"okey" burrell and i are back in contact. allan and i joined up together in january 1954, passed out on the same recruits parade that easter and joined the boys coy rasc band when it was formed later in 1954, allan as a superb trumpeter, me as bass drummer. allan left boys service in 1955 and completed twelve years adult service, while i left the following year and did the full twenty two years. once he'd left boys coy in our paths never crossed again.
then very recently allan spotted my details on forces reunited and the upshot is that last night we had a hilarious, noisy and full of memories telephone conversation that must have had the bt line between lincolnshire and inverness-shire glowing red hot - it certainly tied it up for an hour or more! it's really great to be back in touch - exactly fifty years since we last spoke - and we're determined to not lose touch again. thanks again for all that you do towards reuniting old comrades in arms.
