 We did our training in elgin in 1950 . we were both sent to erlestoke wilts then on the advance party to minden germany. we lost contact with each other untill i put an advert in the sapper magazine . then i found his name in the forces reunited, he contacted me and told me about a memorial service parade to be held at chatham 2008. my wife and i made arrangements to get to chatham. denis and i met at the camp gates and he walked up to me and said hello bill long time no see. we had not met since 1952 although i did not recognize him he said he would have known me anywhere.
his wife and mine are now good friends and denis and i keep in touch by e-mail, and we hope to meet up at ripon later this year.
at the age of 76 i still have hope of finding an army friend or two, ( once i have mastered
