| Errol Stafford's details |
Paul and i served on the dido over 30 years ago and became very good friends. two years ago i decided to start the dido association and my first task was to track down paul,as we had lost touch when paul left the rn in 1974. little did i know that he had started looking for me at the same time, we both put messages out fo each other, me looking for whisky and he looking for basher, within days i rang him and we now speak and see each other frequently. the association is now growing from strength to strength and even includes crew from the cruiser that served in wwii. learning about the history of the dido has now become my ambition. i am at a loss as to why the story of the wwii dido has never been told, she accepted the surrender of the german navy, fired the last shot of the war, earned 12 battle honours, and many more events which should not be forgotten.
