Keith and i joined the army together in 1985 and trained to be chefs in aldershot, after almost 2 years basic and trade training we were both posted to the 2nd battalion the royal irish rangers in connaught barracks, dover, kent in 1987. we did a lot of growing up together and almost always went on exercise together. we shared accomodation and when the battalion moved to lemgo, germany we continued to share a room and had a great time together. prior to deployment to germany i met my wife to be, heidi, and it was a real honour to have keith as my best man when heidi and i married in sussex.
only months after getting married i was posted to 1 rha in hohne on promotion to lance corporal. keith was also promoted at he same time but went with the battalion to ni for 6 months. after this i met keith once by chance in hohne when he was on a short term tasking.
i have missed him very much and spent many hours asking friends and aquaintances if they knew him and his whereabouts.
i have spent the last 10 years relentlessly trying to trace keith and had given up hope. i decided to contact forces reunited and during the last few months i have had several messages from friends who know me but nothing from keith.
today i came home from work and had a message from forces reunited that keith had been in touch. it was like winning the lottery, i'm so happy and we have exchanged emails already. it is great to get in touch with my best friend after such a long time, i'm sure keith and i will get together soon to talk over old times.
thank you forces reunited. Michael Sheridan
