This is my wife and best mate for the last 56 years, we were at school together and were married while I was in the Navy, I could not have picked a better person to share my life with, God Bless her.
This is the imprint of a Japanese suicide plane that smashed into
the side of the cruiser HMS SUSSEX in the Pacific, a friend from another site gave me permission to post it, the wings,wheels and propellor can be clearly seen on the ships side---how lucky was she on that day.

HMS WHITESAND BAY on her way to the breakers, this was my first ship on joining the navy, served in her from 53-55,the funnel deck cracked during a gale in the Bay of Biscay and her fresh water system was always breaking down, this was my first experience of messdeck cooking where you had to prepare your food before taking it to the galley to cook.
HMS CEYLON before her final Far East commission 58/60, she was sold to Peru in Feb 1960 from Portsmouth.

Captains report for the ships movements on arriving back in the UK 1959--this should be of interest to you Bill.
Commander D Stobie. RN who died last year. He was 2nd in command of the light cruiser CEYLON on her final commission to the Far East in1958/9. Promoted to Captain and was CO. of HMS VERNON 1963-5,retired in 1971.

By chance i found this web page didn't really did not know what to make of it, maybe another bunch of chancers, on becoming a member, within ten minutes of browsing the web pages, a good mates details from thirty eight years ago appeared in front of me,we went to h.m.s.st.vincent for basic training and then posted to r.n.a.s. h.m.s. condor for trade training, on completion 1969 i went to h.m.s.goldcrest r.n.a.s. brawdy, he went to h.m.s. fulmar(lossiemouth) then we lost touch, our paths crossed but we didn't know it until nowJohn Lovell
