Cyprus '55/56 in 1955 written by Les Osborne
Serving with 'A'Troop 45 Cdo in Cyprus during the Eoka campaign was the most memorable time during my 13 yrs as a Bootneck. Other commissions were memorable, but I never served with such a greater bunch of 'lads' again. The guys in 'A' troop were just great to serve with and I often fondly recall the times we had, the patrols we went on, the fun we had living under canvas and my last weeks in Platres. I will always regret that I never went to Suez with them. Of those who are still with us, I would love to hear from any of them.
God Bless you all

Les Osborne Of the ships I served on, I enjoyed HMS Ceylon the most. The ship and her company were truly '220' [second-to-none]. Pity Our Sgt Maj [known as 'knuckles']wasn'yt one of the best but in all, we had a great time.
Any shipmates reading this, do get in touch, would love to hear from you. |
