Londonderry in 1944 written by Eileen Carroll Terra
HMS PEMBERTON STATIONED IN LONDONDERRY N.I. 1943- 1945. We must all be getting along in years, but I often wonderwhat course in life these old friends took. I still keep in touch with Jean Langer (now Tate), Joan Beamont (now O'Regan) and I heard from Jill Simpson afew years ago. Peggy Graham married Norman MacDonald and may still live in the Lake District. How about Julie Ellis who came from Throapham(sp?) Yorks. Eileen Elliott, Jessie Radford, Billie Powell, Peggy Hooper-Watts (believe she married a Canadian), Pat Moon (now McQuiston) who lived in New York state, Jackie Jewell- the man-killer,Audrey Ward-Smith.Joan Rook from Somerset, Beryl Scimmons (sp?) Glady Lloyd- believe she married an Irishman and lives in Londonderry, Peggy Hyslop, Susan Jacobs, Nancy Lambourne and many others. Especially the Torpedo Wrens!
Muriel McCarthy- she was 34 when I was 17 and a half! Jo Davidge, but again she would be well in her 90's. I am still trying to write some stories and if this ever reached anyone would love to hear from them. |
