Military Wing, MPH, Belfast in 1980 written by David Campbell
In May of 1980 I joined the staff of the Military Wing, Musgrave Park Hospital and started the two year period that continues to mean a great deal to my life. The camaraderie of the unit was, in my opinion, unique. If there was work to be done, it was completed without a quibble, when we were asked to work on due to the arrival of casualties no-one evr cried off. After work the social life of the Kellar Bar was a welcome relief and many shed more than their cares and woes into the 'sump room'. I met some great friends there, I met my future wife there, we married in 1986. A time of many memories until my reluctant departure in 1982, but then it was to be a two year tour to Hong Kong so there were even more compensations ahead. |
