North Africa in 1944 written by Anthony Hough
Laanded in Phillipville then by train to Algiers. Posted to 296 Car Co. in El Biar Algiers. It was a pool transport Co. of staff cars. A few men I remember are. R. Partridge,Dusty Simkins,Ernie Bennet, A Caswell, D Murray,Danny Greenaugh, Dolson,Hutchinson,Finch, E Wilson,RE Brammer.W. Graig, A Cleaton.
Our job was to pick up Officers at the Allied Forces Head Quarters in Algiers and take them where ever they wanted to go. This Company continued in Caserta Italy in 1945 until we were posted to Padua. I was then Chauffuer to a Brigadier Archibald Chief of Staff to Sir John Harding.
