cyprus famagusta quayside in 1956 written by michael thrift
I remember leaving the troopship Nevassa which was on its maiden voyage with ship filled to the gunnels with service mem. We then were assembled on the quayside and were to form ranks of three and then were addressed by an officer to be aware of the sun as it could cause sun stroke and then left us to be picked up by lorry to go to Acrotiri we were left to wait for two hours so much for keeping out of the sun(ha ha ) |
