herford,4 ADSR in 1988 written by gareth parker
just wanted to share a typical night out in Herford in the late 80's.
firstly it would be up to the Pig's bar for Grolsch and bacardi and coke chasers. We would play darts and some very odd drinking games(dance of the flamin' arsehole, top shelf etc)then after about 6 or 7 drinks it's off to Sammy's up past the officers mess.
good old Sammy loved to take your money. This is where you would have a couple of beers and check out the local talent, usually a couple of rough german trouts and the odd decent one,who said they hated squaddies but still went to a bar full of them! when fully topped up with the local brew it was off to get a taxi(mercedes usally, never seen the inside of one sober)off into Herford town centre, maybe stop at one the town bars, whilst trying to avoid the Turks ,who try and con or rob you. Then we would try not to get into fights with the 16/5th lancers who were usually on the p*ss aswell.
And next it was off to the oasis that was The Wichtig. This place was a squaddies dream, loads of drink, girls and load music.the night ended with a huge amount of squaddies pissed and trying to get off with the local girls, fighting with anyone who would . more times than i like to remember,i would end up at Petras' house, she was a big beer swilling German lady who ate squaddies for fun!!But i have to admit she allways gave me breakfast(cold meat and cheese)and sent me home in a taxi nursing a hangover, god bless her.
strange thing was i always said never again, but after a sh*t shower and a shave i was back in the Pig's bar for Saturday lunchtime. And then it all started again! |
