Ord Depot Antwerp in 1971 written by Ivan [Paddy] Quinn
I left the Army in 1983 but the memories of those precious years are with me still.
Belgium was just one of many places where army life was extremely kind to us.The unit was a joy to serve with and there was a great bunch of guys and gals there between 1971-74.
Most weekend nights would see us in Charlie's Bar,the Breugel or the Cafe Ford where Annie would provide the golden nectar to keep our tonsils well lubricated and games of pool would be played by most. It was not unusual for a boogie session to the juke box to continue to dawn.
The youth of today would no doubt consider this a very poor form of entertainment but for those of us who were there, it was something special.
Happy days. |
