Outside Venice on VE Day 8th May 1945 in 1945 written by Ron Goldstein
I was a Loader/Operator in the 4th Queen's Own Hussars on the SSMs Stuart tank. Someone called out to me 'get the BBC right away'. I hung extra sets of earphones over the side of the tank and we all heard the crowds going wild in Trafalgar Square.
We felt like there was a big party going on to which we had not been invited and we were not overpleased ! |
