France'40,North Africa '41-43 Italy '43-'47 in 1939

 Enlisted Aldershot April '39, trained Bovington Camp and joined 9th Q R Lancers November '39. Served France May/June 1940. To Egypt December '40. up and down desert until Alemein.Lybia, Tripoli, Tunisia, Algeria then to Italy, where I stayed until April 1947.
Afraid I laugh a litlle at the so called hardship of the recent "Wars" of months. I was abroad three years and ten months before I got my first leave home! I was the lucky one being single but imagine the effect on men with families. Now retired in Selsey West Sussex. |
