HMS EAGLE in 1966 written by John Ellis
We were anchored in the river at MOMBASA the day the world cup final was on It was late evening because of the time difference The ships wireless operators had the final on radio They kept shouting the scores down to the flight deck When the game finished our ship gave it stick on our siren as did several British shipe in the docks The sound was unforgetable It made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!!!!! |
