Baghdad/ Basrah in 1956 written by John Carnell
I was a member of Sugar Draft sent to Iraq to commision 12 Centurion tanks. Our small party of about 30, was a mix of R.E.M.E and R.A.O.C commanded by an Ordnance captain with an articifer serjeant major as 2i.c. We were billeted in various hotels around Baghdad, I was at The Riverfront Hotel on King Feisal bridge. If anyone has any memories ,it would be good to hear from them. |
