april 1946 walking from train station to hms royal arthur and hearing other recruits who came the week before shouting (youl be sorry).then of to hms glendower for sqare bashing.then on to hms pembroke to wait for draft,my first ship was hms berry head in dec 1946,and my next ship was hms leeds castle which i joined in april 1947 till i was demobed in jan 1948 at york.all in all i really enjoyed my time in the navy.tj |
