Juno Beach Normandy 1944 in 2002 written by George Dangerfield
Stood on deck of LST65, off Juno Beach, and marveled at the sights and noise of D-Day, how on earth did we all get there?, After 58 years I still ask that questionWe unloaded members of the 3rd Canadian Armoured Division, many of them only the same age as me, I was then just 18years old, and I watched, from the deck as many of them never made it to shore On a return trip we picked up one of the Canadians who we had taken out on D-Day. He had got a 'Blighty' wound and he told us that not many of his mates got to shore. At 77 years of age i remember them and say "May their souls Rest in Peace forever" because they will never be forgotten while I am alive. |
