Canal Zone RAF Fayid in 1951 written by Derek Percy Allen
There were 2000 of us on a camp designed for 400. There was little to do so after the first few weeks some spent on the docks at Port Said I became the Station stage manager. We put on many shows and had quite a few stars visiting. Like Ronnie Ronalde,Frankie Howerd, Charlie Chester, Gert and Daisy and those mad women Ivy Benson and her all girls band.
The local group " The Quarto Tones" were always popular with their version of "La Mer" " The Jimmy Brown song" and their comedy number"Your Baby has gone down the plug hole"
Are there any members of the Fayid Theatre club out there who remember"Surprise Pink Percy" |
