Field Ambulance, N Africa/ Naples in 1944 written by Abe Hantman
My Father was a patient on board HMHS Aba March 15. 1944. in Naples Bay. He had been hospitalised in Naples after contracting Amoebic Dysentry in N. Africa during WW2. The ship was bombed whilst preparing to leave for the UK. My father spoke of helping to save lives by dragging patients and crew to the hospital decks below. Those who survived the attack remained on board whilst the ship was repaired.
Vesuvius then decided to erupt and repair to the ship was further hindered because it was covered in white ash. I would very much like to be in touch with any living survivor who was on that ship or from the relatives of veterans who were on HMHS Aba at that time.

There is nothing worse than breaking down. But if you do, the RAC have more than 1,500 patrols ready to rescue you, whether you are at the shops or on the motorway. They will always try to fix your vehicle at the roadside, but if they cant they will make getting it repaired as painless as possible.
