Transport Regiment, in 1968

 First posting-Bunde. at 17yrs what an eye opener. They think today that army is under equipt, it always has been. no sleeping bags just 4 blankets. Slept in back of truck, not the mobile livingrooms of today. Rations, a heart attack in a can. Regimental cooks???. no comment. Alkis - find someone sober. Ex Active Edge 69 most on route to the hook. Bullying rife. Shooting - 7.62 pencil. Accmn.- 6 man rooms with cockroahes as bed mates. The Texas bar, Blue lamp and halfway house. Living nightmare!!!. But I lasted 23 years. |
