Anyone remember George the NAAFI Canteen Manager? We became good friends while he was onboard, as he came from the same area of the North East as me.
I remember borrowing a hand fishing line from someone who was fishing for mackerel off the quarter deck, he was pulling them in thick and fast; I got a bite straight away and nearly lost my finger that had the line wrapped round it!! It was a 6’ 0" conger eel on the other end.
