HMS Annett, in 1955 written by Leslie Sharpe
This is some of the crew of the annet in 1955 coaling ship at the coaling hulk in Pompey harbour athing we ha to do every four weeks and involved the whole crew shoveling coal down to bunkers. I’m the one sitting on the hatch looking pale as I was cook of the shack which entailed one hand excused coaling to clean the messdeck and prepare the potmess and drinks for the lads. This was the only time I fell in for cook in 18 months on board. |
