Junior Gds coy Pirbright. in 1963 written by Lilley Chris
My first memory was leaving Leicester London road station for the first time on my own, as a 16 year old and going down to St Pancras and on the tube to waterloo, another exsperience on its own, Making it in one peice to Brookwood it was then I realised I was not on my own as it seemed Hundreds of boyslike myself imerged from the train a bull necked sgt shouting orders out all for aldershot bus no Such n such all for Pirbright bus whatever I arrived at the Guard room with all the others about 80 men and boys all bewildered and huddled in groups when another sgt with a cpl with RP arm bands came out and bawled out your in the army now so line up in Alphebetical order are they real I thought more confusion as we tried to find out each others names so we could line up was this the start ofteam building or sheer stupidity the latter I think were you there with me? |
