3 GHQ, Fayid in 1955
written by Edmund Hodges

I wonder if anyone still remembers how it was to live under canvas in Fayid in 1955, when we used to say it was "110 in the shade - but there wasn’t any" and in the evening any breeze wafted the scent of the ’Desert Rose’ about the camp. We were in walking distance of the Great Bitter Lake and to get there passed through a village where there was usually part of a dead donkey hanging outside the Butcher’s.

There seem to be none of the men I knew in Fayid and very few of those I knew from Episkopi in 1956 logging on here.
