Cyprus - Limassol House Warming Party in 1960
written by Michael French

Got thoroughly smashed at my ex-tent mate "Mugsy’s" house warming party in Limassol. I experienced double vision for the first (and so far last) time in my life, and was as sick as a dog!

It served me right for accepting a challenge to scull in one breath a tumbler full of mixed spirits. Twice!!! I won the challenge... and only realised much later just how serious and damaging the consequences could have been for carrying out such a fool-hardy stunt.

Being in such an enebriated state, I missed out on getting to better know an attractive girl I had been dancing with. My hostess came to her rescue by cutting in to dance with me, and soon after I threw up (chundered) all over the dance floor.

This is a memory I would rather forget even though I don’t remember much of that otherwise memorable evening. My apologise again to my hostess who was not only charming but also attentive to my needs and shameful distress.

I don’t remember getting back to the base and through the main gate, but thanks again also to the lads that took care of me. Does any one remember Mugsy?
