It was interesting to read about this. I, as a young Signalman was also with 10th Signal Regiment at that time. We were allocated the task to accompany drivers (in their Hillman Huskies) and deliver documentation to various addresses throughout London. I was lucky in that the driver I was with (I think his second name was Coffil) was from London and managed to get the best round of deliveries.
This meant us delivering these bundles of orders all round the centre of london. This included Buckingham Palace (front door?) St James Palace, Clarence House, 10 Downing Street. All these sorts of places. We had a cup of tea in most of them just to say we had done it. Really a memorable time for me and one I keep boring my kids an pals about
