5001 Sqadron - El Adem in 1956 written by John Downey
I always wondered what happened to the squadron after we delayed tour-ex bods got home from Nicosia after Suez. Is there anyone there who can remember slaving away making those bomb hardstandings while the Canberras were taking off?
Did the El Adem runways ever get completely tarmaced? If anybody was interested in the Libyan desert 40's battle area information in the education section - that was my work (assisted by the Education Officer, I must admit!) I've some photos of 54-56 at El Adem if anybody has any suggestions as to how to get them on to this site - we have a scanner.

There is nothing worse than breaking down. But if you do, the RAC have more than 1,500 patrols ready to rescue you, whether you are at the shops or on the motorway. They will always try to fix your vehicle at the roadside, but if they cant they will make getting it repaired as painless as possible.
