Aden in 1957 written by Robert Kill
From Blackbush airport, at 0100hrs, ...as civilians, in civvies, 5 of us from my regiment: 3rd Kings Own Hussars, we were:
Myself
Cpl 'Bunny' Havercroft
Tpr 'Taffy' Davis
Tpr Mick Parker
Tpr 'Higgy' Higginbottom
We flew in a Hermes, 1st to Valetta, stayed 15hrs in a hotel, where Mick Parker cheekily placed his shoes outside the door to be cleaned! Then on to North Africa, and finally Aden. There were others on this flight, tankies:
Cpl 'Taffy' Powell
Tpr Ray Morely
Tpr Jim Lavey
Tpr Geoff Addington......
....and others, whose names elude me at present...... |

There is nothing worse than breaking down. But if you do, the RAC have more than 1,500 patrols ready to rescue you, whether you are at the shops or on the motorway. They will always try to fix your vehicle at the roadside, but if they cant they will make getting it repaired as painless as possible.
